Many parents want to use the best possible baby formula. Although the American Academy of Pediatrics does not support, endorse or recommend that your baby drink any particular brand of baby formula if you decide not to breastfeed your baby, but the American Academy of Pediatrics do state that parents should not use baby formula with low iron. Iron is very important no matter how old you are, especially important for babies. Of course you can go on certain baby formula sites and each
site will claim that their baby formula is the best in the baby industry. No
one brand of baby formula will say that another brand is better than theirs. And
it does not help that there are no convincing studies to show that any one
brand is better for your baby than another. It is always a good idea to check
the nutritional label on baby formulas Since there is no concrete evidence to sway parents to choose a specific brand of baby formula, you are going to have to make the decision for yourself. So which brand of baby formula do you choose? The top brands of baby formulas would be Carnation (Nestle) Good Start, Mead Johnson (Enfamil) and (Similac) formula. Although all baby formulas have to meet all the regulations there are differences between them. Good Start, for example is made with hundred percent whey protein. While other baby formulas are made with both whey protein and casein proteins which is similar to breast milk. Casein proteins are comparable to breast milk, nothing is better for your baby than actual breast milk itself. Now that you have an idea of what kind of formula you want for your baby, you now have to decide what type of formula your baby needs. It would be if you realize what makes each formula different. The biggest differences in baby formulas are the types of sugar and protein contained in them. If you not breastfeeding your baby you have other factors to consider. Ordinary iron fortified baby formulas, like Similac Advance, Enfamil Lipil, and Nestle Good Start Supreme are made with lactose and cow's milk based proteins. However babies who are not breastfeeding ought to be given a cow's milk based iron fortified formula. Then there are babies who cannot take milk products. Just as you would they adults, soy products would be a great alternative. Soy baby formulas are made with soy protein and are lactose free and still have the same great taste of milk. Another great alternative would be lactose free formulas. It is believed that babies are not born with intolerance to lactose but if your family has a history of allergies this may be a good option for you. Even if your baby does not have special needs, as for as allergies, it still make take a couple of tries before you find the right baby formula for your baby. |
