Question: My best friend is having her first baby. She couldn’t be happier about it. My friend is an amazing woman. She is one of those ambitious women who is climbing the corporate ladder, with her stunning personality in tow. If the mommy to be feels calm, relaxed and serene then she can enjoy her pregnancy that much more. Soothing lavender lotions, candles and bubble baths can get any soon to be mommy feeling positively calm and smelling wonderful. Gift certificates to the soon to be mommy’s favorite restaurant may also be a great gift. This may help remind the mommy to be that she should feel free to enjoy herself and not confine herself to her house because she is pregnant.

However if you want to get pregnancy gifts that are for the both of them then you have plenty of choices. Homemade gifts for an expecting mother are extra special and will touch the heart of the mom to be.  The one thing that parents always forget to do is have a scrapbook.  A scrapbook is an excellent way to document your baby’s arrival and even its first year. The problem with scrapbooks is that people have a hard time starting one.  This is where a homemade gift comes in. During pregnancy a lot goes on. Sonograms are taken with frequency, baby showers, many pictures are taken and usually these are forgotten once the baby is born and then desperately sought after when the parents realize that they want to remember everything from beginning to end. A great idea would be to start scrapbooks for the soon to be parents. One of the scrapbooks will store all the mementos pre birth and the other will be for baby’s first year.  Decorate the covers of both scrapbooks to reflect the future contents of the scrapbook and even start the first page of each book.
